1st P-Day Tuesday June 25, 2013

Hermana Talbot

FAMILY!!
I am doing well. I have been a little sick due to getting flu and hepatitis A shots, but I am alright. Coughing, but guess what... surviving.
I finally got my luggage!! I literally wore the same clothes for 3 days. Surprisingly, I still didn't smell. Go me!
I will be here 6 weeks learning Spanish as well as how to teach the gospel. Spanish is coming slowly, but surely. I speak in Spanglish continually. We absolutely love it! There are 7 of us in my district. All Americans: 4 boys and 3 girls. I am in a tripanionship with 2 girls from Texas and Arizona
As to the mission nurse specialist part, I should know more next week. I have met with the doctor here (Dr. Mikesell). He said to me "your missionaries are going to love having you around". Good or bad, I have no idea.
Mom: we totally get our laundry done 3xs a week by a lady who comes to the house to clean and such. Amazing.  Also, our rooms get inspected every day. For me, making my bed is the worst part. Staying organized... meh... no big deal.
Our mission parents of sorts are from Washington state and are very good to us. Elder Gilbert speaks Spanish. Hermana Gilbert does not. Mom she says not to worry; she's taking care of me.
The language is soooo difficult. My brain literally hurts. I never felt this way in school. Ever! I feel like it's going to fall out of my head sometimes and start spilling out of my nose and ears. Then, I just cry. Hahaha. Then the teachers tell us to get over ourselves, focus, have patience, and endurance. :) I have prayed so hard for my brain to be able to handle all of this information. I am definitely understanding more than I was when we got here, so onward and upward.
OH... the food gives me such a rumbly tummy! It's so good...
I want to be obedient enough to receive inspiration, humble enough to accept it, and hardworking enough to act upon it.
P.S.S.S. I have a card in front of me from President Monson that says my beginning and end dates are: 20 June 2013 to 19 December 2014

Pray for me.
Love. Love. Love. Love.

June 19th, 2013 Arrival of Hermana Talbot in Santiago, Chile

 June 19, 2013

Arrival of Hermana Talbooot in Santiago, Chile

Hello all!!!
I have arrived to Chile. Safe and sound. Luggage got left in Atlanta, Georgia. Should have it by tomorrow. Until then I am in the same clothes. No big deal. I am missing some paperwork, but they are very understanding. What can we do anyway?
I am confused by the language of course. But I keep reminding myself that it will come. Until then, I will just be lost and pray for a translator or English speaking person,
Next P-day is Tuesday. So talk to you then! I am calm and well. The mission home Mom was quite shocked I was so calm.
Love you all!!

P.S. Their keyboards are really weird here and it take forever to type haha.

June 18th "What a Day to Remember"

   June 18th, 2013
 "What a Day to Remember"
From Bangor Maine to Santiago, Chile

After putting mulch in the garden, and having breakfast with 3 sugared cereals, it was time to make the journey to Bangor International Airport with the "mother-load of luggage".

Just before take off these were Hermana Talbot's final texts to her Maudre':

Hola. Mi nombres es Hermana Talbot. Yo soy missionaria de la inglesia de jusucristo de la santos de los ultimos dias.

"I can't believe this is actually happening"

Upon arriving in LaGuardia Airport, she immediately began scanning for 3 possible traveling companions in dark suits and ties or modest dresses looking "lost". She located no such creature and after delays and having to change departure times she was on her way to Atlanta, Georgia.

However in Atlanta, it wasn't long until she spotted
"the 3 lost boys in dark suits and ties".  The 3 "lost boys" took turns using her phone to call home, her next and final text was, "destroying phone". I felt every emotion possible- excitement, pride, love and pure joy. (ok and the reality I wouldn't hear my girl's voice until Christmas brought me to tears)

I love you til Maine becomes a desert my daughter!!
